Mortal Kombat Mobile is about to go through a huge update. Version 2.0 will introduce Mortal Kombat 11 characters, and the latest Kombat Kast gave more details on what fans can expect and when it’s expected to drop.
The Mortal Kombat Mobile team revealed that version 2.0 is coming next week, and encouraged fans to check out the official Twitter account to get the latest information.
The stream also revealed that there will be 50 more quests called NetherRealm Quests. In these quests, players have to stop another NetherRealm scheme and the designers teased that players will need to use their gear because it will test even the most advanced players.
The mobile game will also move from Unreal 3 to Unreal 4, but does need to be online all the time. There’s a new user interface and storefront to purchase packs and other goodies.
Here’s everything else revealed for version 2.0 of Mortal Kombat Mobile.
NEW MORTAL KOMBAT MOBILE CHARACTERS
If you follow the official Mortal Kombat Mobile social accounts, you’ll know that Raiden and Scorpion from MK 11 are coming to the game, and Jade was the newest fighter to be revealed.
Jade in Mortal Kombat Mobile will be a Gold Card with a passive ability that allows her to parry basic attacks.
She and the rest of the Mortal Kombat 11 characters coming to mobile can be obtained by completing five towers in Trial Mode. Here’s a shot of Jade’s stats in Mortal Kombat Mobile.
Raiden from Mortal Kombat 11 was brought into the mobile game to deal with Leatherface and the game’s meta. Be sure to pick this character up when you can, after the Jade Trial is completed.
Scorpion is very powerful in Mortal Kombat Mobile. His SP1 can deliver a crushing blow, and he has combo strings that allow him to knock out one enemy and hit the next one. He’s the Diamond Card character and will be available in Faction Wars and special MK11 booster packs.
MORTAL KOMBAT MOBILE REWORKS
Twenty-three older characters will be reworked when version 2.0 goes live. The characters will keep their original “flair” but will have buffed-up stats and abilities to make them more viable.
Some examples include Assassin Kitana, who goes from a Gold to a Diamond. Her bleed damage lasts longer and works well with other Assassins in the game.
Revenant Jax has a Special Power that makes him invulnerable while performing it and he also receives more health when paired with others in the Circle of Shadows – a designation we’ll get to later.
Kold War Sub-Zero will have all his moves tied to the frostbite status. He will have more synergy with other Kold War characters.
Finally, Nightmare Freddy Krueger can spread his Nightmare passive to more than just the enemy he’s facing. It can go to the other members of your opponent’s team.
Along with the reworked characters, team designations are being added to Mortal Kombat Mobile. These teams will give individual characters more powers and abilities while also giving advantages over other teams.
Here’s a shot of the various teams and other reworked characters.
The designers of Mortal Kombat Mobile teased how some of these teams work during Thursday’s event. They revealed that the Strike Force members like to drain and gain power while Ronin character can amplify their attacks.
Kold War characters excel in damage over time effects while the Horror Team likes to stun their opponents.
Mortal Kombat Mobile is available now for iOS and Android.
