The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has likely grown accustomed to facing widespread scrutiny and condemnation over its role in deporting thousands of people out of the country each year–but, recently, the embattled agency received some rare high praise from an equally high-profile source: the Kardashian-Jenners.

In a press release on Tuesday, ICE described how its agents had arrested 38-year-old Canadian John Ford, who had been in the U.S. with an expired visitor’s visa and had been convicted twice for trespassing at the home of Kardashian family member and fashion model Kendall Jenner.

ICE said its agents arrested Ford in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 25 after learning he was in the country illegally. He had been convicted of stalking Jenner on two separate occasions.

The immigration agency said the most recent incident had occurred earlier this year, when Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested Ford after he was discovered in Jenner’s swimming pool at her California home.

Both arrests resulted in misdemeanor convictions for the Canadian, for which he served jail sentences.

Jenner had also filed protection orders against Ford, which he has since violated by trespassing once again on her property.

In a statement following the March arrest, the Kardashian-Jenner family expressed gratitude to police and ICE for their efforts, saying: “We are extremely appreciative of the hard work by the Los Angeles Police Department and ICE, whose swift response and professionalism lead to the apprehension of this man.”

Speaking of Ford, the family said: “Not only have his actions had a severe impact on Kendall’s life, but on our entire family, causing all of us to fear for her safety as well as our own. Knowing this individual is in custody gives us peace of mind.”

ICE said the Kardashian-Jenner family can now rest even more easily as they have deported Ford out of the country after escorting him from El Paso, Texas to the Houston International Airport, where he boarded a commercial flight to Ontario, Canada.

“Removing potentially dangerous aliens who are unlawfully present in our country is of the highest priority for ICE, especially those who threaten the safety of Americans,” said Corey Price, field office director for ICE ERO El Paso in a statement.

“The swift action of our officers helped protect the Kardashian-Jenner family and future potential victims of John Ford,” Price said, adding: “Our officers work tirelessly to remove criminal aliens from our communities, making them safer and our nation more secure.”
